Join us on Saturday, February 10th, to celebrate the release of the new album, SAFE HARBOUR, by Mark Walbridge & FriendsMark Walbridge was the lead singer/rhythm guitarist for the DC-based 1970’s band, HICKORY WIND.  This new album reunites four (of five) original members of HICKORY WIND (Sam Morgan, Bob Shank, Mark Walbridge & Glen McCarthy), while also featuring performances by the SAFE HARBOUR duo (Morgan & Walbridge), MITCHELSTOWN (Dennis ‘Doc’ Botzer, Pam Bozzi, & Mark Walbridge), and ‘THE SAFE HARBOUR BAND’ . . . a group of DC/Baltimore-based Irish and Scottish traditional musicians and vocalists who appear on the album.

The concert will feature a performance of the SAFE HARBOUR album in its entirety, interspersed with cameo performances by some of the participating musicians.

SAFE HARBOUR focuses on Celtic music in the broad sense—songs and tunes from Ireland, Scotland, and Northumbria (northern England)—liberally flavored with songs of the sea, a dominant force in Celtic music.  While initial tracks date to late 2012, the majority of the album was recorded in 2016-17 (available from CD Baby.com).  Grounded in traditional folk music, SAFE HARBOUR includes contemporary arrangements of traditional songs, taking advantage of the skills and expertise of the members of HICKORY WIND and the SAFE HARBOUR duo.  The album also features two Walbridge original songs (one a Walbridge/Morgan collaboration).

Bringing together nearly 20 musicians and vocalists, the SAFE HARBOUR ALBUM RELEASE CONCERT will be a unique experience unlikely to be repeated—a truly special evening of traditional and folk music.  Because seating is limited to 250 tickets, advance purchase is highly recommended.  Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime performance.
