- The Boston Globe
Join us on January 13 as we send Whirligig off in style. Since 1994
Whirligig has combined a firm grounding in a wide variety of folk forms
with a rich palette of contemporary music influences. Their
sound
blends jazz, rock, and other world music, to create a "Celtic/world/jazz
fusion feast of the sort that only New York City could produce."
(RTE Ireland) Led by multi-instrumentalist Greg Anderson and fiddler
extraordinaire Lisa Gutkin, the band features Matt Darriau's multi-reeds
and flutes, Ivan Goff's uilleann pipes and whistles, and the voice and
guitar of Lisa Moscatiello. Whirligig has appeared at many of the largest
and most prestigious festivals throughout North America, including Winnipeg,
Newport, Philadelphia, and Toronto's Rhythms of the World. Their latest
CD, "Spin," made the Top 10 lists of many DJs and publications
throughout the US and England. Whirligig packed the house last time,
so be sure to get your tickets in advance.
