With a big, full-throttle sound, a relentlessly energetic live show
and some of the best songwriting in the business,
Tanglefoot
has taken the world of roots music by storm. The band began in the early
1980s as a three-piece group known for lusty interpretations of traditional
Canadian songs. As the group evolved and personnel changed, the emphasis
shifted towards songwriting rooted in Canadian traditions. Tanglefoot's
current line-up consists of guitarist Steve Ritchie, Toronto bass player
Al Parrish, Terry Young on mandolin, guitar, banjo, harmonica and whistle,
ketboardist Bryan Weirmier and Kingston, Ontario fiddler Terry Snider.
In spring of 2002 Tanglefoot released Agnes on the Cowcatcher, their
fifth CD - and their second since signing with the Borealis record label,
following Full Throated Abandon (1999) which won Crossroads Magazine
Music Awards Gold Star for.Best Album - Contemporary Folk Band.
