Stream and the Blue Dragons (with the Esphahan Dancers) & KIVA

Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring
$12 advance/$15 door

Expect soaring bird-calls and growling didjeridu, oversized drums, pulsing jazz-bass and twanging Turkish saz, electric guitar and Tibetan cymbals, because West meets East and North swings South in the music of the Blue Dragons. The rhythms come from the Middle East, from Africa, from Brazil; the melodies are original, some haunting some joyous. Joined by the Esphahan Dancers, the Blue Dragons will bring you to your feet as their pulse gets under your skin!

KIVA is a percussive, upbeat, Celtic-Indian-Blues style worldbeat folk ensemble that celebrates the magic of nature and bardic traditions with music that opens the heart and heals the spirit. KIVA blends strong vocal harmonies with rich, diverse acoustic and electric instrumentation, performing originals, traditionals, and covers. A note from the Prez: This evening will be loud, raucous, energized, colorful, dervishsized. This pairing will be a highlight of the IMT concert season as we display some of the great musical diversity right here in our own backyard.
