Garnet
Rogers and Archie Fisher
Monday, March 31, 8:00 PM
Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring
$12 advance/$15 door
Barely out of high school, Garnet Rogers was on the road as a full-time
working musician with his older brother Stan. Together they formed what
has come to be accepted as one of the most influential acts
in
North American folk music. Garnet sings extraordinary songs about people
who are not obvious heroes and of the small victories of the everyday.
As memorable as his songs, his over-the-top humor and lightning-quick
wit moves his audience from tears to laughter and back again. Born in
Glasgow in 1939, Archie Fisher has been at the center of the British
folk scene since the 1960s. His musical path has intersected with those
of Robin Williamson, the Incredible String Band, Bert Jansch, Tommy
Makem, Liam Clancy, Silly Wizard, and John Renbourn. His most creative
songwriting period was in the mid-1980s which coincided with North American
tours in partnership with (and records produced by) none other than
Garnet Rogers. Join us for this remarkable concert and see what the
future holds for these outstanding artists.
