Swing Guitar For Bluegrass And Folk Musicians. You’ll learn the
basic chords and changes for playing most Bob Wills and western swing
tunes, plus some swing/jazz classics. Marcy Marxer, a 9 time GRAMMY
nominee and a best-selling instructor on Homespun Tapes, has taught
many workshops. Her
Swing Guitar series on Homespun Tapes will be available at the workshop
with a discount for attendees. 2.5 hours long
Clawhammer Banjo 101 - The Real Beginners class. Bring your own
banjo or borrow one. We'll learn to tune and hold the banjo, practice
basic clawhammer right hand technique, learn a few chords and one simple
tune. Cathy Fink has played old time banjo for 29 years and has taught
at the same places as Marcy Marxer. She has played on several instructional
projects for old time musicians. Her CD Banjo Haiku will be available
at the workshop. 1.5 hours long.
Clawhammer Banjo 201- An Intermediate/Advanced class for clawhammer
players. We will study a difficult tune, explore song back up and review
several unique tunings. 2 hours long
Classes are limited to a 5 person min, 20 person max. Depending on registration,
the two banjo classes may be combined to one, long class, dividing the
group to give instruction at various levels.
