Brooks Williams’
music rocks like the blues and swings like jazz inspiring Dirty Linen
magazine to call Williams one of "America's musical treasures." His
musical vision encompasses blues fingerpicking, swingin’ slide, and
rootsy flatpicking, and manifests itself in a hybrid of funky chords,
walking bass lines, and fiery leads inspiring the comment, “Now there’s
a musician who loves his work!” A guitarist, songwriter and
interpreter, Williams, who now makes his home in the Northampton area
of Western MA, regularly leads guitar, performance and songwriting
workshops at The Swannanoa Gathering, Cedar Run Song Workshops, Newport
Guitar Festival to name but a few, and runs a series of summer day
camps teaching beginning blues and roots guitar to kids.
Joining Brooks, with whom she has frequently toured, Siobhán
Quinn belts and soothes her way through an explosive performance,
combining a strong blend of contemporary as well as traditional folk
and acoustic rhythm & blues. In 2004, Siobhán partnered with
Michael Bowers, now her husband, and moved to Alexandria, VA from
whence they tour, write, and record together, not to mention garnering
awards from WAMA to Kerrville. Siobhán’s teaching residencies
for school children combine traditional music, folklore, history,
geography, theatrical character development and storytelling all of
which inform their own music. Take home their latest CD, Dreamers,
Lovers and Outlaws which spans the range from hopeful desires for peace
to hard hitting blues to find out...
