Pint
& Dale CD Release “Set of the Sail”
w/ Calico Jack opening
|
Years
of experience
have gone into the making of this musical duet. William Pint
(rhymes
with “mint”) and Felicia Dale bring us maritime music, nautical
music -
the music of the sea - contemporary songs with the sea as a theme and
shanties, (or chanteys, if you prefer) the traditional work songs sung
aboard the tall ships to organize the labor of the crew. Whether early
music or modern, traditional or contemporary, heart wrenching or
downright silly they offer harmony, joy and pure energy on voice,
guitar,
hurdy-gurdy, mandolin, whistles.
Pint and Dale entertain and perhaps enlighten as well, giving listeners
an insight into another age, prompting Dirty Linen to rank them “..
among North America's most exciting interpreters of music based in the
traditions of the British Isles and France... unconventional but
spine-tingling... unique and mesmerizing "

Opening the show is Calico Jack, a folk duo from Annapolis. Paul
DiBlasi, a veteran chanteyman with the colorful Pyrates Royale,
with
his mellow baritone and vast repertoire of work songs teamed up
with
sailor/singer/songwriter Janie Meneely who has shared the stage
with
the like of Them Eastport Oyster Boys and Crab Alley. Her Bay-inspired
ballads and nautical tunes have been recorded by artists throughout the
country.
