Master
mandolinist Danny Knicely, who delighted and amazed a
packed IMT last April, returns with Ralph Gordon on bass, to showcase
Duende Camerón (Cesar and Jose Oretea). Originally from Bolivia,
the Oretea brothers, studied Flamenco guitar and singing in Spain and
are working on their 2nd CD. The name might be roughly translated as
“the soul of Camerón” (Camerón de la Isla or José
Monge Cruz, was the legendary flamenco singer who died in 1992 at the
age of forty-two.) Their soulful guitaristry and blood harmonies are
powerful and moving. This landmark performance, in English and Spanish,
will range from lively gypsy rumbas to hot originals and other melodies
from Europe, Brazil, Bolivia, and Appalachia. Look forward to an
evening of unique music and stunning musicianship.
