Bob
Carlin is probably the best-known clawhammer banjoist
performing today. For over thirty years he has performed, lectured, and
taught the distinctive southern banjo style to appreciative audiences
all over the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Bob is a three-time winner of
the Frets Magazine readers' poll, and has to his credit four Rounder
albums and several instruction manuals and videos for the banjo.
Dan
Levenson is considered one of the finest teachers today of the
Clawhammer banjo style. He is the author of the revolutionary new
clawhammer instruction manual Clawhammer Banjo From Scratch - a Mel Bay
publication. He is known worldwide as the banjo player from his time
with The Boiled Buzzards and now plays fiddle in The Hippie-billies.
Cathy
Fink has played the banjo since 1974. She has absorbed many
styles of playing from banjo masters and recordings and developed a
clawhammer style that has drive, percussion, melody, and chordal
components. In 1980 she became the first woman to win the West Virginia
State Old Time Banjo contest, an honor she earned 3 times. She has
taught at music camps such as Augusta, Puget Sound Guitar Workshop and
Swannanoa. Her CD, Banjo Haiku has been an underground hit of
clawhammer playing.
Bob
Carlin will also be performing with Cheick Hamala Diabate on
