The
seven-time WAMMIE-nominated Oklahoma Twisters were
named“Country Artists to Watch For” in the Feb 2002 issue of Washingtonian
Magazine. The Twisters first performed in 1995, bringing Western
Swing to the D.C. area. Since that time, their colorful, entertaining
performances, professionalism, and joyfully swinging music have
attracted a large and loyal regional following. Cowboy singer/songwriter Dennis Jay
(“...probably the only singing cowboy/gravedigger in Washington”) with
his band, Lonesome Town, brings a driving rhythm guitar style to power
his stripped-down Folk & Western sound that has been compared to
Gene Autry and Marty Robbins. His debut CD (released after more than 20
years of performing), "What You See" earned rave reviews and two WAMMIE
nominations. |
