One of the great
voices in the Washington area, Lisa Moscatiello could sing the
phone book and bring tears of joy and sorrow!
Involved in the DC Irish music scene during the early 1980s, she joined
the Irish trio Ceoltoiri as lead singer at age 16 and moved
on to the legendary British-style folk-rock band The New St. George
from 1989 to 1995, after which she released her debut solo album, Innocent
When You Dream, then Second Avenue. She has been honored
with over 20 Washington, DC Area Music Awards (WAMMIES).
Her new band, the Space Dots, with Erik Wenberg
(guitar), Robbie Magruder (drums), Jon Nazdin (upright
bass), and Harry Appelman (keyboard), showcases her lustrous
alto in an ensemble inspired by Dusty Springfield, Miles Davis, the
B-52s, 60’s Italian pop, and some of DC’s finest tunesmiths.
Call it “acid jazz cabaret”!
