Robin Huw Bowen's influence on the worlds of Welsh folk music
and harping has been
far-reaching. Recognized internationally as the foremost performer
of the Welsh Triple Harp, he ranks among the most important figures
that Welsh traditional music has produced. Robin has been a member of
the Welsh folk groups Mabsant, Cusan Tan,
and Crasdant and, since 1983, has toured North America, Australia
and Europe as a solo
performer. He has even performed for British royalty! Whether
he plays a fiery tune
from the repertoire of the Welsh
Gypsies or a slow air showing off the intricacies of his harp's
three sets of strings, Robin Huw Bowen is a master
musician.
Moch Pryderi is Welsh for "Pryderi's Pigs",
which explains why one of the band's CDs is titled "Dancing in
the Pigsty". Since 1998, the Virginia based Welsh band, Moch Pryderi,
has been performing the exciting and haunting Brythonic music of Wales
and Brittany, with occasional excursions into the other Celtic nations
of Galicia, Cornwall, Ireland and Scotland. Moch Pryderi is: Mary Triola,
harp, flute, whistles, uilleann pipes, vocals; Melissa Rich, fiddle,
whistles;
Dave Rich, guitar,
vocals; Bill Reese, Welsh pibgorn, bouzouki, Breton bombardes,
smallpipes, and
vocals; Rik Rice, bodhran, doumbek, Welsh biwbo; and Bob Roser, Highland
pipes.
